Pererenan Beach Near Canggu Bali

Pererenan Beach, located at Pererenan village, Mengwi, Badung spread over some 2 kilometers, was previously unknown to tourists except a few surfing enthusiasts. It is about 22 km northwest of Denpasar Airport. This beach is located in southern part of Bali Island, has black sand and high wave. During the end of the year such as many surfer come here to enjoy the wave.

From Pererenan Beach we can enjoy views of southern Bali. Kuta and Jimbaran beaches can be seen from a distance. Views of airplanes landing and taking off at Ngurah Rai Denpasar Airport can also be seen. The towering Garuda Wisnu Kencana or GWK statue in Jimbaran can be clearly seen. Pererenan Beach also offers exotic views at sunset.

 Pererenan villagers have made some improvements to the beach, making the beach more attractive and clean including erecting a Gajah Mina statue on the beach.  The distinctive Gajah Mina statue is meant to serve as a tourist attraction, especially for foreign visitors. Gajah Mina is an elephant-headed fish from Hindu mythology that is often found in the adornment of temple compound walls.

The statue will make an iconic and contribute to attracting more tourists visiting the area. The construction of the statue was finished in 2016. Since the new icon was unveiled, many travelers have come to take pictures here at sunset.

Like many other tourist attractions, the number of tourists who visit this beach which is located between Echo Beach Canggu and Seseh Beach, fluctuates depending on the time of year. On public holidays, it is mostly domestic visitors who come to Pererenan Beach, while visitors from Australia, Europe, and Asia visit when the waves are good for surfing. Several leading brands have also hosted several international kite surfing competitions here. As is the case with neighboring beaches, Pererenan Beach is a popular destination for kite surfers.

There is a fairly large parking space that can accommodate cars and motorbikes. If you come here with a self-drive rental car, that’s not a problem. Park properly and don’t forget to lock the car. Local customary village authorities charge IDR 3,000 for cars and IDR 2,00 for motorcycles to park by the beach. The village has plans to fix the road that leads to the beach and to have public toilets. There are also plans to build stalls for vendors, and create a venue for holding customary rituals that will be arranged by the customary village.

The arrangement of the beach area has been ongoing intensively since 2015 and has yielded good results with approximately 100 to 300 people visiting the beach daily. Several other attractions in Pererenan village have also been worked on to support this area that is seeing more and more visitors. For instance, the local river has been restored as a habitat for shrimp and a breeding site has been established to reintroduce the magpie robin.

There are other community efforts in his village too. As farming is the dominant activity of this village, they are working on creating a running path through their paddy fields as a way to attract visitors.

Like the other coastal areas, they are also trying to maintain the profession of fishermen. There are 30 active fishermen at Pererenan village who are coalesced into the Windu Segara fishermen group. To accommodate the interests of fishermen, the village cooperates with a number of villas so that these fishermen can take part in offering services to the tourists who stay there as a supplement to their income.

How to get to Pererenan Beach?

The access road to Pererenan Beach is in very good condition as this area is developing as a tourism area very quickly. In this area, many villas, hotels and other tourist facilities have been built. Pererenan Beach is located between Echo Beach and Seseh Beach.
